The Institute of Environmental Medicine is engaged in basic and translational research on environment-human interaction with a focus on allergic diseases. New infectious diseases such as COVID-19 affect many areas of life and it is largely unclear which factors influence disease progression. To be better prepared in the future, the Institute of Environmental Medicine is studying the pathological effects of infection on the upper (nose/throat) and lower airways (lungs), the role of burdensome pre-existing conditions such as asthma/allergies on disease progression, and the prevention and management of future pandemics, particularly those caused by aerosol-borne viruses. Our team in Augsburg consists of 6 research groups with a total of 40 employees and is looking for immediate reinforcement in the field of aerosol research for the establishment of new modules in the BSL2 laboratory in Augsburg and the expansion of the connection to the emerging BSL3 laboratory at the Neuherberg site. Full time Augsburg Professionals Your responsibilities Establishing biobanking facility and connection to existing biobank at Universitätsklinikum Augsburg Setup of instruments and workflow for high throughput sample storage Training of other group members in using biobanking system Setup of instruments and workflow for exposome experiments Standardize the analysis of environmental/human samples and supernatants from cells/tissue Standardize data output Ordering of reagents, maintaining laboratory equipment, and ensuring quality documentation and data handling Training of other group members in using exposome collection devices Your qualifications
A degree of Technical Assistant or equivalent (MTA, BTA, CTA, Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Research) A strong background in chemistry/biochemistry and molecular/cell biology or immunology Prior experience with cell culture techniques, biochemical assays, high throughput analysis Prior experience as technical assistant or lab manager Excellent communication skills in English and preferably also German Strong team-, communication – and organizational skills Desired qualifications
