Monday December 20, 2021 11:11 am Monday December 20, 2021 11:11 am ECONOMYNEXT – The United States said 820,000 Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines to Sri Lanka taking the total vaccines donated to the Indian Ocean island to 3.4 million.
‘The United States supports Sri Lanka’s ongoing efforts to vaccinate as many people as possible,’ U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Martin Kelly said.
‘Widespread vaccination is vital to ending the pandemic, preventing the emergence of new variants, and rebuilding livelihoods,’
‘With the Sri Lankan Ministry of Health, UNICEF, and the World Health Organization, we are doing all that we can to build a world that is safer and more secure against the threat of infectious disease.’
Sri Lanka is using Pfizer vaccines as third shot booster.
To date, the U.S. has provided over 17.9 million dollar in emergency supplies and critical services to Sri Lanka. (Colombo/Dec21/2021)
