Postdoctoral position in chromatin biology and epigenetics

The Fei Li’s lab at Department of Biology at New York University (NYU) is seeking highly motivated postdoctoral scientists with an interest in chromatin biology and epigenetics and a proven academic track record.Projects in the Li lab focus on studying molecular mechanisms of epigenetics and chromatin organization using fission yeast Schizosaccharomyces pombe as a model organism (Li, et al. Nature, 2011; Gonzalez et al. PNAS, 2013; Dong et al. Molecular Cell 2016; He et al. Cell Reports 2016; He et al. PNAS, 2017; Dong et al. PNAS, 2021). Planned projects use a combination of approaches, including genetics, live cell imaging, molecular biology, biochemistry, and genomics. Our laboratory has several exciting projects, including (1) how epigenetic information is inherited through the cell cycle; (2) the mechanisms underlying the epigenetic regulation of centromeres; (3) how the non-coding RNAs regulate heterochromatin assembly; and (4) the role of liquid-liquid phase separation in chromatin organization. Postdoctoral scientists will have opportunities to receive rigorous training in latest approaches in chromatin, epigenetics and condensate research. The fellow will also benefit from state-of-the-art research facilities and the highly collaborative community at NYU. Further information about our research can be found at: http://as.nyu.edu/biology/directory.fei-li.htmlThis position is for a post-PhD trainee preparing for a research scientist career path. The planned position will provide a transition to career independence through the development of professional skills; supervision by senior scientist incorporating individual development plan in support of training goals and those of faculty mentor; and publication of research findings/scholarship during postdoc appointment period. New York University (NYU) is a private, global research university founded in 1831. The position offers competitive salary, excellent benefits, and exposure to a rich environment at NYU and the New York City area.Position RequirementsThe ideal candidate will hold a PhD, have prior research experience in Molecular Genetics, Biochemistry or Cell Biology, and a track record of peer-reviewed publications. Experiences with epigenetics and chromatin, yeast genetics, RNA biology, and fluorescence microscopy are desirable but not required. How to Apply Interested candidates please email CV, brief description of research experience and interest, names and contact information of 3 references to: fl43@nyu.edu.
