Postdoc Associates or Research InstructorsThe Shi group (https://www.shi-lab.org/) at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine has two open positions for Postdoctoral Scholars (or Instructors). The lab is interested in developing proteomics-based biotechnologies for translational science and therapeutic development. Projects span several themes, including protein mass spectrometry, antibody/nanobody bioengineering, structural biology, and therapeutic development for infectious diseases, immune disorders, and cancer.Open projects include:1. Bioengineering and characterization of broadly neutralizing nanobodies for highly evolved pathogens. 2. New technologies to target undruggable proteomes.3. Development of novel trifunctional biologics for GPCR and targeted immunotherapy.4. Hybrid mass spectrometry-based proteomic technologies for drug discovery.References:Xiang, et al (2020). Nature. The lab is funded by multiple NIH and foundations grants. Compensation is based on experience and follows NIH guidelines: https://www.hr.pitt.edu/current-employees/benefits. The lab is fun, productive, values innovation and creativity, and is highly supportive of career development. Scholars will have unrestricted access to our state-of-the-art core facilities to explore their emerging and interdisciplinary research interests.Preference will be given to self-motivated and detail-oriented candidates with expertise in proteomics (e.g., native and top-down mass spectrometry), structural and chemical biology, or with experience in infectious diseases, immunology, or cancer biology. The initial appointment is for one year, with the possibility of renewal. Qualified candidates should apply online and include: a one-page cover letter detailing their research expertise, scientific interests, and career goals, as well as their curriculum vitae with two or three professional references. For more information, contact Dr. Yi Shi at yi.shi@pitt.edu.The University of Pittsburgh is committed to and accountable for advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in all of its forms.
