Position Summary
The Jelic Lab at Columbia University Irving Medical Center, New York is seeking a highly motivated post-doctoral researcher in the laboratory and to participate in ongoing research projects. Dr. Sanja Jelic’s lab focuses on mechanisms mediating cardiovascular complications of sleep disorders, including endothelial pathology in sleep apnea, sleep deprivation and an in vitro models of intermittent hypoxia (see Sci Transl Med. 2016 Jan 6;8(320):320ra1). Responsibilities
Processing endothelial cells and other biological specimens collected from humans, immunofluorescence, confocal microscopy, DNA/RNA work, RNA-seq, flow-cytometry and cell culture. The post-doctoral researcher will be expected to engage in the lab’s research goals and to work closely with team members in a highly motivated, collaborative environment. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to learn new skills sets such as working with ex vivo fresh human endothelial cells.
Minimum Qualifications
MD degree/equivalent or PhD with expertise in cell and molecular biology Laboratory experience including routine molecular biology techniques
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with handing cell culture, confocal microscopy, DNA/RNA work
Excellent English communication and writing skills
