The Department has a faculty position available due to retirement and invites applications for the position of University Assistant/Associate Professor (Lecturer/Senior Lecturer).The Department of Biochemistry is embedded in the University’s tradition of scientific enquiry and is a world leader in research and education. As part of the School of Biological Sciences, our undergraduate and postgraduate education programmes develop the next generation of scientists. Our 40 research groups, led by Investigators of international standing, collaborate with colleagues around the world to answer fundamentalquestions concerning how tissues, cells and their constituent molecules work, how their evolution contributes to the diversity of life, and how change or disruption can cause new phenotypes including disease.Candidates will have an established or developing bibliography of research publications and demonstrate the vision, leadership and enthusiasm to develop a research programme of international stature in their field.Standard faculty responsibilities include teaching and research, examining, supervision and, at a later stage, contributing to the administration of the department.We welcome applications from outstanding candidates in any area of biochemistry, molecular biology or molecular genetics. Applicants will have a PhD in a relevant subject area and show evidence of leading a successful research programme.
