Area of research:Scientific / postdoctoral postsJob description:The newly founded Institute of Martime Energy Systems researches and develops innovative solutions for decarbonization and emission reduction in shipping and transfers them into practice by cooperation with industry. The institute is building a large-scale infrastructure to test and trial the new energy systems to be developed in a standardized laboratory environment as well as under real conditions on a research vessel. Therefore, the institute is organized into four departments.The incumbent will search for a renewable fuel suitable for use in marine applications as part of a project. This will require the development of a reformer for an energy system to be developed based on ammonia as a fuel.Your future tasks in our team include: You will conduct ongoing literature research on already existing methods. You will select the scientific methods and tools on this basis. You will plan and carry out the work, procedures and experiments to be performed. You evaluate the research results scientifically and publish them. You use the research results to create patents and samples. You then plan new research projects and acquire them. You supervise students (interns, bachelor, master) in connection with the research topic. You take care of the acquisition of third-party funding. In case of successful acquisition of external funding, you will have the opportunity to take over the project management in coordination with the head of department.
